New!!! Resin Wood Slices

I have been planning to add resin covered wood slices to my product line for a while now. Slowly learning the skills on how to apply. As it happened my son, who has his own tree service company, Southern Rooted Tree Care, in Charlotte NC obtained a couple of really neat slices of sweet gum. I took one of them and turned it into the table above. Took about 3 coats of the blue/clear resin to make the water look, then about 4 coats of clear to balance and smooth out the wood slice.

Added hairpin legs which I sourced from an Etsy vendor. Below are some shots as I worked on the piece.

Sanded and stain enhanced. Key at this point is to cover the bottom with HVAC tape so the resin doesn't flow out. Then you need to level the wood so the resin self balances.

Using a special resin which allows you to fill gaps at 1" per flood

Setting the colors for the water look

Flood coat the table. This is about 4 coats shy of the finished look

Am currently finishing more resin pieces for special orders. Have a great supply of wood, sweet gum, eucalyptus, Florida ear, sycamore, hickory, and dark magnolia to name a few. Contact me if you are looking for a bench, coffee table, or end tables.
